tour: lonDON
the past week has been busy - both with entertaining yeevonne and muffy (plus jihan and raj at times), and with flat hunting. i'd rather not talk about flat hunting - but i will say this: thanks those of you who have listened and helped. you know who you are, and i truly appreciate it. =)
ok. the sheffielders, if there is such a term.
muffy arrived on
friday, and dragged me out to tour london with
miaomiao,
jihan and
raj. we went to
big ben, and walked around the area. managed to get some lovely photos, which i will post up some day. some day. ;) muffy stayed with me that night, yv stayed with her cousin.
we went to
st paul's,
millenium bridge, tower of london, and
tower bridge the next day
(saturday). took more photos. we stayed for the first part of the evening song mass in
st paul's, which was lovely. one thing about all places of worship - they just give you this sense of peace and calmness. especially when there is nice singing in the background. met up with winston after all that (we were late, but he was late too) - and had pizzas in this place in south ken. we went for a mini IC tour after dinner, where we realized that the oh-so-cool-building in IC was actually used for filming a movie (sharon stone, apparently). business school? or was in mechanical engineering? anyway, the filming equipment was still in the building, so being the total sampats we are, we took photos with them. =) we also sneaked into this room with more film equipment - we entered after these people left. grins. this was obviously follwed by a trip to fk. hung out in winston's room for a while, but adjourned to wy's room as
wince was trying to get rid of us. haha. played pro evo, both times against wince, once pairing up with jeff to fight wince - but lost both times. just wait. one day i'll actually win. in my defence, i've only played the game what...4 times? oh, and yv stayed with me that night (and for the rest of her trip). so we had to sleep half on the bed, half on the chairs. i think i should charging a fee for providing hotel worthy services. good way to make money. please note that this was jeff's suggestion. =)
went to
camden market on
sunday with yeevonne and jihan. all of us bought quite a lot of stuff - mostly from the same shops: boon (the actual designer), and that "indian" shop which is (according to the other two) "so hot right now". i have to admit the things there were super cheap though. got some fantastic deals. jihan and i also managed to get food for a pound, as the shops wanted to finish off for the day. ahhahaha.
monday. my day started too early for my liking, but we had to wake up as we wanted to buy tickets for
swan lake (yv and i). we originally planned to buy tickets for the matinee, but there were only seats at the side available. so, we decided to buy tickets for the evening show. our seats were SO high up...i definitely prefer stalls anytime! but considering we only paid 15quid for it.. ;) the show itself was quite impressive. i loved the part where the four "swans" did their dance-hop-step thing across the stage. i found the solos slightly boring though, and actually fell asleep a few times during some of the solos. but the group performances were superb. nevertheless, i think i'm more of a musical rather than ballet person. dances are fine (riverdance rocked!!!), but ballet is just too gentle and sweet - which has the uncanny ability to put me to sleep.
after the ballet, we headed for
piccadilly circus to meet jose - to go for yong's clubbing thing. and yes i don't know my way around london. haha. give me time. =) embassy was so-so, there were TOO many people in a club that was TOO small. felt like sardines. uggggh. and
yong was too busy dancing upstairs to come down and visit his friends. so he owes all 3 of us a meal. but jose and i decided that we're probably not gonna go to any clubbing events in the future if it's not s'porean or malaysian. unless it's abacus and mandy, agnes, andrea, jeni or hw are going. hehe. coz at clubbing events, you usually meet people you know. this time around, well. hahaha. yv got a very nice free "show" for most of the night...which is supposedly going to make her friends very jealous. and jose...hahahahhaa. you know, i know. ;) we stayed on to the very end, and only got back to schafer at 4.30am. it was quite weird being in piccadilly circus and leicester square at that time of the night though. and a bit scary.

i can't remember what happened on
tuesday...i think i slept in. and met the rest later on - oh yeah. at the flat viewing thing in russell square. slanting floors. that's all i can say. we then walked around
oxford circus and
regents street, where we bumped into hw, dmitri and the other guy whose name i can't remember. yv and i also got distracted. hahahahaha. we later had dinner with the rest, minus jihan and raj who had gone back to sheffield the previous day, plus yong, wy and hua.
had my first aid course on
wednesday, which put me to sleep. but the videos were quite funny. very overexaggerated! i'm glad there were so many people in that session though - i mean, so many people i know. irene, hui li, kim, mei, jo, tuan, vanita. =) sent yv and muffy off later that day, but not before buying some
krispy kremes with yv's "buy 1 get 1 free" coupon. mmmmmmmmmmmm......
