once again, we slept in. and woke up a bit too late. the receptionist actually called us to tell us that we should have checked out at 12pm. oh well. we were (obviously) suitably apologetic. i think they were probably sick of us, what with likun and ash stealing all their sweets - up to the point where they had to introduce new sweets. tsk tssskk.
after checking out, likun headed for hard rock cafe to get a t-shirt for her sister, while ash, hua, sato and i went souvenir hunting near our hotel. and as luck would have it, they were relatively cheaper. very nice.
ash and i then headed off for the louvre again, in search of the "inverse pyramid", which we missed the previous day. it took us a really long time to actually find it. we tried retracing robert langdon's steps...coming in via rue de rivoli, looking down from the top...that was where we got stuck. we couldn't find the top of it, the so-called carousel de lourve. anyway, we decided to go into the museum to search for the "holy grail" instead...and we found it! it's actually at the 2nd entrance of the museum - smack in the middle of a shopping centre. but it was good to be able to see it! i only wish i had the book with me at the time - it would have made a great photo!
however, we still weren't satisfied. we wanted to find the "top" of the pyramid. ash said it was probably in the roundabout, and i was like: shut up, ash. that's crazy. well...turned out i should have been the one to shut up. it was in the roundabout! but we couldn't actually get to it to "look down to see the pyramid", as robert langdon did. it was surrounded by bushes! i wonder how they're going to film the movie..haha. that's one movie i cannot wait to watch. it'll be really fun seeing all the places, and going....i was there!! =)
after that, being the pigs that we are....we both decided we had the time to visit creperie des arts again. this time, we had the savoury crepe....which was delicous. the crepe was stuffed with ham and cheese, and topped with tomatoes, mushrooms, lettuce and a fried egg. yumm.
we walked around st-michel, where we bought some pastries, and saw these chinese artists at work (drawing those on-the-spot portraits). the chinese artists were really good though...especially the guy working with the charcoal.
the hours passed really quickly though...and before we knew it, we were rushing back to the hotel to get our bags. we hurried off to the station - where we weren't late, for once.
and we were on our way back to london...
it was a truly wonderful trip, one i thoroughly enjoyed. =) i do want to return to paris someday though...there are still things i haven't seen.
