concord: revisited

concord. acton burnell. shrewsbury.

after facing my 'ah-moi' like dilemma of concord mayor's concert vs lse mss nite, i must say that i am glad i decided to opt for concord. =) the mayor's concert was pretty good...the first half wasn't as boring as it usually is. (sorry to anyone who was in the orchestra last year) there was this weird chanting-orchestra thing, solos by juls, saadnah and yan li...and even a sax solo. and i absolutely LOVED the singing part, which obviously involved none other than mr julian wong. juls, you rock! he sang "L.O.V.E" and "when i fall in love" with irma, and it was follwed by fah with 'blue eyes'..hmmmm, i'm actually not sure of the title of the last song. i especially loved "L.O.V.E" (thanks to crazee, who uploaded that song into my non-shark) but my favourite "juls song" is still the "changing partners" one, for some weird reason i can't really justify. simply amazing.

but i shall stop praising juls now. =)

anyway, the other performances were also good...i think the indo one was the best. very cool. it was a dance with plates, plus they had that "coordinated" stuff at the end of the dance, like what they did last year. they didn't get the counting mixed up this year though. ;) the hk one was quite cool as well...leo is damn funny. hahahahahaha. he's another fuzz. omg. i nearly forgot! the hk performance had two insider jokes. it was basically a sketch about how hongkies can unite to help people in need (in this case, the tsunami victims). anyway, they had this "news programme" thing, where they mentioned that even animals were affected by the tsunami. and molly got her 15 minutes of fame. HAHAHAHAHA. they basically showed a shot of molly walking (it was slowed down)...complete with dramatic music. i laughed till i cried. it was that funny. the other one was when they were "looking for missing people". they used our a level result pictures. i was like. oh my god. wth. =) the malaysians did a joint performance with the singaporeans...it was quite alright, the ISA part of it was funny.

and at the end of it all, kokkinos decided it was time for the audience to pay attention to him, so he decided to give a rather long and totally OTT speech. he was going on and on about how the wonderful students should thank their parents for sending them to concord, on behalf of the college. and more crap about how it is hard to send your kids so far away, blah blah blah. to be fair, he was probably excited as it was his first time directing the musical part of the concert, but still. he also thanked the violin teachers, and a lot of other people....(it seemed a lot like an oscar acceptance speech). but the best part was yet to come. at the end, he thanked mr morris, who unfortunately wasn't there. and why did he thank mr morris?? "for building this wonderful building so we can have all these wonderful concerts here". maybe i'm being a bit unfair, but i thought that was really OTT. i think i have been throughly influenced by the as music students, who hated him so much.

the best thing about this trip was that i managed to get all my art!!! *grins* i am so so so thrilled to have my art with me....i only wish i managed to get my personal investigation. i was about to keep all of them....until. ellis "asked" if i could leave all of them with her, as it was the first time she was marking them, and it would be a great help if she could compare the marks with the actual projects. and it was just the way she phrased the question, which made me feel really bad if i said, NO. i want my personal investigation, and i want it now. even though she said that i could take them if i wanted....but being the nice person that i am, i left all the personal investigations behind. bloody hell. i really want my personal investigation! i spent AGES on it. and i mean ages. for example, the border for each of the "interview" pages took me THREE freaking hours to draw. sighhh. i'm going to have to wait. bah. and to those people whose art we had to transport...you owe me and jeff dinner. especially yong. do you know how heavy your tiles were??? =) meal ok? but i also accept cash payments. gratitute is not acceptable. haha.

i also got to meet all my ex-teachers, except mr lewis and mrs baker (arrgh!! i really want to see mrs baker!!). i was SO surprised i got to meet mrs d...she actually had to come up to me and say something along the lines of "yeahh yeah, don't come up and say hi". oops. but i really couldn't recognise her. shorter hair. =) mr and mrs marsh were there, drb, mrs bees, mr marstden, mr leighton, and mr harding. and this is an update for miss ashvina segaran: your darling mr harding now has whiter hair, is a little fatter (but still skinny), and has apparently become a year younger...he is now 23. yeah right.

oh, and mrs bees took part in the surprise item...and she was dressed up as a punk! haha. i couldn't believe it. =) but i think she misses the "good side" of baby e. she was telling this guy, whom i think was her fiancee (he has to be, he followed her into her house) that we used to have many chat sessions in baby e. *grins* more like "bodek-ing" sessions to keep out of trouble. =) and amazingly, she told miss anderson i was "good"...so miss anderson didn't say anything when she saw me in baby e - though i was staying over at daryll's. haha, i'm good. a good actress, that is.

it was nice catching up with people though. =) the only thing i regret is not spending enough time with su phei. dammit. i feel so guilty, like you would not believe. she was studying for bio and chem last night, plus mandy was already sleeping...so i didn't stay in her room for long. and i was talking to drb for too long this morning (from half ten to one!), plus she didn't go to town as she was ill. dammit. this is so bad.

i also reached another milestone in my sleeping achievements. i think i nodded off at least 30 times when talking to ale. she even got it on video. oops. plus i was talking utter rubbish, suddenly mentioning things which were totally out of context. mind you, i was perfectly fine earlier on when talking to daryll, su phei, mandy, michelle (and some girls in baby e whose names i just cannot remember)....it was LATE. haha. plus i was functioning on one hour of sleep. =)

i definitely want to go back to cc again....which will probably be during the reunion. i didn't get a chance to take as many photos as i wanted ( i actually had a camera with me, thanks to the altruistic wueno), meet all the people i wanted to meet, or to eat in the dining hall. next time.

going back made me miss concord life a lot though. although it was nice going back, i felt kinda detached, in a way. i mean, it would be perfect if every single 6.2 were back there. i miss sneaking into orchard and bell, taking photos with miao miao (i cannot count the number of photos i took with her), singing with muffy (my jukebox) and joanne, crapping with ash, doing the "5 more minutes" thing with likun, having ramz and anita come over to supply me with the latest gossip, teasing wei about denden, having people come to my window (even julie-anne plucking all the fruits from my plant!), going for saturday night discos in the west end, our orchard drinking parties, drb's "chem" classes, harding's flapping (and freddie), mrs marsh's blurness, sleeping in physics, our AMAZING class (especially cross dressing day!)....not forgetting prep in sb8. the BEST prep room ever. how could it not have been? with me, wei darling, "wheaty" zhi, miaomiao, di-ehhhhh-na, cin and grace. =) never following the rules, singing at the top of our voices, getting told off by all the teachers....sighhh. our prep song. our instant noodle party. plus the "stahdy-sturdy" and "blaad-blird" conflicts...and so much more. i miss some of you so much. i'm just so glad there are quite a few concordians in london....and that some very smart people invented msn, skype and the phone. =)
