the schafer fire alarm has now gone off a record FOUR times in FOUR days. or make that insane-times-of-the-night. and i think it has gone off at least 10 times in the past two weeks. i mean, it went of once when adeline was here, twice when ding was here...and many other times before this. but at least it wasn't every single day then!!! just give us a break. at least do it on alternate days.
i mean, it's not a silly joke anymore. the police have been brought in, as they are considering this as arson. coz the person who is responsible for all this does this either by smashing the glass of the fire alarm, or simply burning paper. two nights ago, the warden and one policeman came to every room to chase us out, and force us to evacuate the building. i think they realised a lot of people had the "i don't give a shit about the freaking false alarms anymore" attitude. and apparently, those of us who didn't evacuate could be potential suspects. anyway. yeahhh, so the police have been here two nights in a row. on sunday night, we had to stand outside for nearly 1.5 hours while the fire alarm rang in the background. and last night, it came close to two hours in the damp, cold night...as they were ticking of names as we reentered the buliding. can you believe it? it goes off at 4am, and we only got in around 5.50am. insanity.
everyone's pretty much pissed off by now. we're all lacking sleep, and most of us are switching our day around to suit this bloody asshole. like...oh yes, we need to take naps during the day coz we won't get any sleep at night...along those lines. and many people are angry coz they just can't summon the strength to get up for lectures in the morning. the fireman who spoke to all of us yesterday also sucessfully instilled some fear in us, i have to admit. he says things like this always end up tragically, and if the arsonist isn't caught, it won't end until they (the firemen) are dragging people out in body bags. which does make sense.
we're all getting so used to this by now. i think the alarms will probably go off every night until this idiot is caught...but there is a small bit of humour in all of this, i guess. some girls actually brought down chairs to sit on! and we're thinking of boiling some water before going to bed... so we can grab it, together with some hot chocolate, cookies and chairs when the fire alarm goes off. and i'm being serious here. all our jackets and shoes are always readily laid out. and we were thinking..we could probably make a bit of money if we sold toasties or hot drinks....haha. humour is the only way of handling this situation...especially when you're standing outside with nothing else to do.
the alarms are getting to most of us, me included. everytime i hear a loud sound which has the slightest resemblance to an alarm, i swear my hear skips a beat. like, shiiiiiiit. no!! and i had a very interesting dream about fire the other night. it's like anytime between 2am and 7am is the "danger zone"...when the fire alarm could go off.
i just hope this stops soon. i don't care if the police never make any sense of the evidence they have. i don't care if this sadistic asshole is never caught. i just want it all to stop- so we can all have a peaceful night, for once.
